Photo, Audio, Video, and File Collector Formats and Size Limits

Forsta Plus Digital Diaries accepts multiple file types in a variety of file collectors. More than one file may be uploaded at the same time. Collecting files from your participants adds a great amount of color and detail to your research. Here’s a bit of additional information about the types of files we support.

1:  Request Photo

• Limit is 10 MB
• Acceptable formats: .bmp, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .webp

2:  Request Audio

• Limit is 10 MB

• Acceptable formats: .mp3, .aac, .wav, .ogg, .m4a

• Individual audio recordings are limited to 10 minutes

Note: .ogg files can be uploaded but are not played in the Safari browser.

If using the mobile application, the app must stay open the entire time the file is uploading to be successful.

The mobile application audio collector has a 10 minute maximum. Once 10 minutes is reached, the audio can be uploaded and an additional audio recording can be created. There is no limitation on the number of audio files added using the audio collector.

3:  Request Video

• Limit is 500 MB

• Acceptable formats: .3gp, .avi, .m4v, .mov, .mp4, .mpg, .webm, .wmv

• Individual video recordings are limited to 10 minutes

If using the mobile application, the app must stay open the entire time the file is uploading to be successful.

The mobile application video collector has a 10 minute maximum. Once 10 minutes is reached, the video can be uploaded and an additional video can be created. There is no limitation on the number of videos added using the video collector.

4:  Request File

• Files uploaded to a file collector will display as a download link for the Researcher.
• Limit is 10MB
• Acceptable formats: .3gp, .aac, .avi, .bmp, .csv, .doc, .docx, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .m4a, .mov, .mp3, .mp4, .mpg, .numbers, .odp, .ods, .odt, .ogg, .pages, .pdf, .png, .ppt, .pptx, .rtf, .tar, .txt, .wav, .webm, .webp, .wmv, .xls, .xlsx, .zip
